What sets Wally Yachts apart from other brands

Must read

Established in 1994 by visionary yachtsman Luca Bassani, Wally Yachts is a name in the industry that is synonymous with revolutionary design, innovation and advanced technology. Based in Monaco, the shipyard initially focused on designing sailing yachts, introducing groundbreaking features such as carbon composite construction and push-button sail handling. Applying this pioneering spirit to motor yachts, Wally Yachts rose to international acclaim in 2003 with the launch of the iconic Wallypower 118, a 36-metre gas-turbine powered superyacht that reaches a speed of 60 knots with futuristic lines that are reminiscent of Darth Vader or a US Stealth Bomber. Specialising in sailing and motor yachts, ranging from 24 to 58 metres in length, Wally is known for its avant-garde aesthetics, mixing sleek, minimalist lines with performance-driven naval architecture.

One of the hallmarks of Wally’s uniqueness lies in its relentless pursuit of innovation, consistently integrating cutting-edge materials like carbon fibre to enhance the strength and durability of its yachts while reducing weight. Driven by the conviction that form should follow function and not the other way around, its ongoing commitment to excellence and innovation has earned Wally several prestigious accolades over the years, including two Compasso d’Oro awards.

In 2019, Wally was acquired by the Ferretti Group, further enhancing the shipyard’s design and development capabilities while expanding its market reach. Despite becoming part of the larger and well established Ferretti Group, which owns brands such as Rive, CRN and Pershing, Wally maintains its distinct identity, with Bassani continuing to guide all aspects of design. As such, all Wally yachts launched since then retain the shipyard’s  core values of innovation, functionality, and aesthetic excellence.

Some of Wally’s most sought-after models are from its wallytender series, a range of versatile dayboats that feature a walkaround centre cockpit and welcoming stateroom, with several layout options suitable for both leisure and performance. The wallytender48, for instance, strikes a fine balance between speed and comfort. Designed for day cruising or as a luxury tender, she features an open cockpit layout, carbon fibre elements, and a deep-V hull for smooth handling in rough waters. Complete with a top speed of 38 knots and easy manoeuvrability without a crew, the wallytender 48 remains a popular choice among seasoned and novice yachting enthusiasts. Another notable model from Wally is the Wallypower 58, celebrated for her sleek design, impressive performance capabilities, and futuristic aesthetic. Inspired by the original Wallypower 118, the Wallypower 58 features a large glass and carbon dome over the cockpit, with wrap-around glazing and an innovative fold-down bulwark system, transforming the aft deck into a spacious beach club. One of the latest additions to Wally’s fleet is the Wallywhy100, from the yard’s “spaceship line”, which seeks to blur the boundaries between a traditional coupé yacht and an open cruiser. Designed to maximise onboard space and functionality, the Wallywhy100 features an expansive stern area with fold-down bulwarks, an angular futuristic profile, and a spacious full-beam master suite with expansive glazing for panoramic views.

Continually adding to its ranges, used Wally yachts retain their resale value due to their unique design, superior craftsmanship, performance-driven capabilities, and the shipyard’s solid reputation in the industry. With limited production runs, the use of cutting-edge materials, and Wally’s continued focus on innovation, there is always high demand in the pre-owned market for a Wally, making them a sound investment for potential yacht owners.
